RICHMOND UNION BOWLING CLUB RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE FOR PEOPLE DISPLAYING SIGNS OF INTOXICATION/ ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOUR.
ANY PATRONS DISPLAYING SUCH BEHAVIOUR WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE VENUE
1. What is barefoot bowls?
Barefoot bowls is a fun, casual version of lawn bowls where you play without shoes. It’s perfect for social gatherings, work functions, birthdays, and weekend catch-ups.
2. Do I need to book, or can I just walk in?
Bookings are highly recommended, especially for weekends and group events. Walk-ins may be possible if there’s space available, but it’s best to check ahead.
3. How much does it cost?
Pricing varies depending on group size. Please check our website or contact us for the latest prices.
4. What are your opening hours for barefoot bowls?
Our barefoot bowls sessions typically run on Tuesday’s through Sunday’s from 11am, but availability can change. Contact us to confirm times.
5. How long does a game take?
A typical barefoot bowls session lasts around 1.5 to 2 hours.
6. Do I need any experience to play?
Not at all! Barefoot bowls is easy to learn, and our friendly staff can give you a quick rundown of the basics.
7. What should I wear?
Casual and comfortable clothing is best. As the name suggests, you’ll be playing barefoot, but flat-soled shoes are allowed if you prefer.
8. Can we bring our own food and drinks?
No, but we have a fully licensed bar and catering options available. Outside food and drinks are not permitted.
9. Is there a dress code?
There’s no strict dress code, but we recommend comfortable clothes. Fancy dress is fine for themed parties, as long as it’s appropriate and doesn’t damage the greens.
10. Can kids play barefoot bowls?
Yes! Kids are welcome to play as long as they are supervised by an adult.
12. What happens if it rains?
It takes quite a bit for our greens to get rained out! However, in the event that it does or if you have any concerns leading up to the day, please feel free to reach out to our friendly staff. Please note that we will refund the bowls fee if we have to close our greens but catering is non-refundable within a 10 day period of your booking.
13. Is there parking available?
Yes, there is limited parking on-site and nearby street parking. We recommend using public transport or ride-share options if possible.
14. How do I book?

15. Can I host a private event or function?
Absolutely! We offer function packages for corporate events, birthdays, and special occasions. Get in touch to discuss your event needs.
16. How many people can fit on a rink?
Ideally, we like to have up to 8 people per rink at a time. For larger groups, we can accommodate up to 10 people per rink.
17. Does the venue have disability access?
Yes. RUBC is fully accessible for anybody requiring mobility aids, as well as on our greens.
18. When is your kitchen open?
The kitchen is open on Friday nights for the full bistro menu from 5:30-8:30pm, and Sunday for a classic Sunday roast from 12-3pm. The roast menu changes weekly so be sure to check our social media pages for what’s on this week!
19. Can we do speeches/ display photos?
Yes! If you have booked our function room, we have a projector to display photos - you will just need to provide the laptop to play them off. In addition, we also have microphones for speeches (please note that this only applies for exclusive function room hire as the room is a shared space otherwise)
20. Can we play our own music?
If you have exclusive venue hire then absolutely! For all other bookings, it is up to the discretion of the staff and is dependent on the crowd on the day. We do request that music be family friendly as it is a shared space for bookings outside of venue hire.
21. Can we put up decorations?
Please do! We do politely request that they be removed upon completion of your booking. (Please note: Only temporary decorations that do not damage the premises in any way are allowed, so please; nothing that needs nails etc.)
